Invited to the best conservatories in Europe

After his master class and lecture at the Amsterdam Conservatory and more recently at the Orquesta Metropolitana Superior Conservatory in Lisbon, Cristo Barrios has been invited to the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, the Listz Academy in Budapest and the Amsterdam Conservatory for the second time.

Cristo Barrios invited by the Canary Islands International Music Festival

Cristo Barrios has been recently invited by the Canary Islands International Music Festival to première a clarinet concerto by Nino Diaz, next 2013. This is the only music festival celebrated in Winter time. In 2012, conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen or Zubin Mehta will participate.

After receiving eleven extremely positives reviews, ‘20th Century Music for Clarinet’, one of his last CDs (with Clinton Cormany at the piano) received recently very nice comments by the prestigious magazine Gramophone.

Lecture and recital at the European Clarinet Congress 2011

Cristo Barrios has been invited to participate as lecturer at the next European Clarinet Congress, to be held in Madrid between the 8th and 11th next December. The title of this research work is: ‘Stravinsky and his clarinet writing. Technical difficulties and performing solutions’. He will also play a recital.

Two new CDs for 2012

Cristo Barrios will record in the following months two new CDs. The first one is a selection of chamber pieces (violin, clarinet and piano) by two prestigious Catalan composers, Joaquim Homs and Robert Gerhard. In this occasion he will be recording with the international pianist Gustavo Díaz-Jerez and the London Symphony member violinist David Ballesteros.

Last September Cristo Barrios participated at the I Latin American International Clarinet Congress, in Lima. He took part in this event doing a recital and a master class. Many international soloists were invited, like Pascual Martínez, John Cipolla, Nuno Pinto, etc.

Last April the 30th Cristo Barrios appeared with pianist Gustavo Díaz Jerez in one of the most prestigious concert hall in UK, the Cadogan Hall. They played a programme of contemporary Spanish composers that wrote music especially for Cristo.

Last February the 18th Cristo Barrios made his debut recital at the Viena Konzerthaus, one of the most prestigious concert halls in Europea. He appeared with Spanish piano virtuoso Gustavo Díaz Jerez, playing a programme of contemporary music.
